Paramount+, fresh on the heels of a new trailer for the second season of Strange New Worlds, has put out an extended clip from the show’s second episode of the second season.
The footage, which was first shown during MCM London Comic Con, gives us a look at the trial for the Enterprise’s No. 1, Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn), who was rudely arrested at the end of season one after the higher ups at Starfleet found out she was an Ilyrian with modified DNA, a big no-no for the Federation.

The clip not only gives us a look at some fabulous formal wear uniforms, it also confirms that Una is on trial for violating Starfleet regulation 614617, which prohibits permanent DNA modification. She also is charged with submitting false information to Starfleet and two counts of sedition. Una pleads not guilty, of course, and then we get some quick shots of the most of the Enterprise crew saying that Una never seemed like she was hiding something. The one exception, of course, is Spock (Ethan Peck)—the Vulcan says that it did seem like No. 1 was hiding something. What he’s referring to specifically is unclear, as is how his statement will impact Una’s trial, although we do know from the aforementioned trailer (and the events in The Original Series) that she eventually makes it back to the Enterprise.
What else are Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and his crew up to in the upcoming episodes? Here’s the official synopsis for season two of the show, which frankly tells us nothing, but sure sounds good:
In Season Two of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, under the command of Captain Christopher Pike, confronts increasingly dangerous stakes, explores uncharted territories, and encounters new life and civilizations. The crew will also embark on personal journeys that will continue to test their resolve and redefine their destinies. Facing friends and enemies both new and familiar, their adventures will unfold in surprising ways never seen before on any Star Trek series.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premieres on Paramount+ on June 15, 2023, with subsequent episodes dropping every Thursday after that.
